Portrait of Nedim Torun

Born in Paris to a Portuguese mother and a Kurdish father, Nedim Torun is a documentary filmmaker based in the French capital.

After three years studying management at university, he turned to cinema and joined ESEC, where he specialised in documentary. His graduation film, Madiakho m’a dit, co-directed by four, was selected at several festivals, including Fipadoc, Côté Court and Silhouette. After graduating, he joined the La Passerelle residency at Périphérie, then took part in Les Pitchs d’Addoc, where he is developing La Faille de Çınarlı, a feature-length documentary about his father’s home village, struck by an earthquake in 2023.
